General Manager (Saskatoon and Area)

The General Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within the Saskatoon and area market and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the branch. The General Manager will interact with customers in a sales and consulting role, throughout all phases of the sales cycle.

Establishing the Full Throttle and Full Steam brands in the Saskatoon and area market will enable us to grow and sustain our business in the local community. The General Manager will be our Brand Ambassador attending and participating in business network events, professional associations, and community involvement.

He or she will partner with the President and Director of Operations to plan and execute effective sales targets, operational budgets, and expense targets for the year. Forecasting sales and business growth for 1, 3 and 5 year periods. Determine the need for recruitment and hiring to support Saskatoon and area business growth. This position will also hold key duties in the formulation of innovative business development strategies, creating productive and sustainable relations through partnerships, associations, and the community at large to drive client growth.

As an experienced manager, he or she will draw on a dynamic, up-to-date knowledge of the industry. Provide leadership to a team of skilled technicians and therefore, the ability to perform hands-on field work is an important aspect of this role. Work in conjunction with the Service Manager to identify key employees and look to strategically develop them to fill potential growth gaps. A key element of this position is dedication to furnace and duct cleaning as well as commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning and a willingness to continue to learn and develop professionally to assist the company in its goal of being an innovator in the industry.

Job Duties

Business Development and Project Delivery

Initiating and performing all aspects of the sales cycle.
Following up on leads and conducting research to identify potential prospects.
Ensuring all communication with new or existing customers is logged into Service Box.
Plan and execute projects from conception to completion.
Complete site walkthroughs to gather critical information to formalize the project scope, budget, labour requirements, and equipment requirements.
Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a courteous, professional manner.
Organizing and participating in trade shows, training or associated product meetings as required.
Actively participate in community /business associations.
Complete monthly sales activity reports.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors and opportunities in the marketplace.

Operations

Manage and supervise staff, prepare work schedules and assign specific duties.
Determine staffing requirements and oversee the interview, hiring and training of new employees.
Perform regular performance evaluations.
Monitor work quality and perform or arrange training as needed.
Perform hands-on work in the field to learn the business and provide labour support as required.
Manage and direct efficient use of company resources.
Manage the maintenance and maintenance records of company vehicles, tools and equipment with administrative support from Regina.

General Management

Oversee and provide input on annual sales, service, administrative and capital budgets to maximize the long-term profitability of the organization.
Ensure that company practices comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
Oversee maintenance of information in all divisions of Full Throttle Furnace & Duct Cleaning Inc. record management systems.
Implement and execute the company’s business plans as they pertain to the Saskatoon and area market.
Develop and manage budgets and authorize expenditures.
Assist in the development of plans for capital budget strategies.
Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
Establish and implement company policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with the President and Director of Operations.
Oversee the safety program of Full Throttle Furnace & Duct Cleaning Inc. and Full Steam Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning in Saskatoon.
Create a safe environment for the discussion and resolution of values-related issues and concerns.
Maintain up-to-date job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Maintain a professional demeanor, with tact, discretion, and diplomacy.

Requirements

Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field required.
Working experience in the HVAC industry preferred.
Minimum 5 years working experience in business management and/or sales required.

The Lead Technician is required to operate a variety of equipment, hand tools and power tools.

Job Duties

Read assigned Work Orders and request any required clarification from the Service Coordinator.
Update Work Order notes as required.
Ensure all equipment and supplies required for all Work Orders for the day are stocked in truck.
Calling customers when en route.
Greet and provide customer support by addressing any questions, problems, specific equipment requirements or request for service.
Create invoices for completed work and email to customers.
Ensure proper before and after photos are taken and provided to customer via invoice.
Accept and process payment for invoices.
Accountable for the quality of work performed in accordance with the Quality of Work procedure.
Survey and complete pre-inspection of ducts and inspection after each duct cleaning job.
Provide quality air duct cleaning and related services to customers.
Set up and clean-up of equipment and tools.
Clean air ducts, vents, returns, runs and handling unit blower motor, coils and outside of unit in accordance with the Safe Work Procedures for:
- Furnace cleaning
- Duct cleaning
Clean the following in accordance with the Safe Work Procedures:
- Air exchanger (HRV) cleaning
- Central vacuum cleaning
- Dryer vent inspection and cleaning
- Duct fogging
Follow all company policies, safety procedures, guidelines and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining a valid license, clean abstract, safe driving, proper care and maintenance of van.
Responsible for truck and equipment sanitization in accordance with the Truck/Equipment Sanitization Procedure
Trains Technician Assistants as needed
Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We booked Full Throttle to clean our air ducts and dryer vent after moving into our new home. Overall, the services we requested were completed, but we were disappointed with our experience, particularly with the dryer vent cleaning.
During the dryer vent cleaning, one of the technicians told us that our existing dryer vent hose was too short for him to put the dryer back in its original position. He suggested installing a longer hose for an additional $100. To be clear, there was nothing wrong with the existing hose, and there was no issue with our dryer or the way it was originally set up.
There was an easy solution that did not require purchasing a new hose: the washer could have simply been moved temporarily to create enough space to put the dryer back where it was. Instead, we were presented with the $100 option. My husband ended up going to Home Depot and purchasing a longer hose for about $20 to resolve the situation ourselves.
We understand that issues can come up during a service, but in this case, we felt the situation was unnecessarily turned into an additional $100 expense when there was a simple alternative. We just wanted to share our experience so others are aware.

Booked today for noon. Got an email saying to expect them in the 2 hour window 11-1. Waited until 1:15 to call the office, and was told "Gee, I thought the service manager would have called you. Two of our guys didn't show up and we had to shuffle the schedule. You've been moved to 3 pm". When I said that wouldn't work for me due to afternoon commitments, she offered to rebook me another day entirely. I declined.
So I missed 2 hours of work, waiting, and wasn't "important" enough as a customer to even notify that they would be a no show. Lousy customer service. I ended up booking with another company, who assure me they WILL show up.
(PS - note to Full Throttle re: their response - fast response to the review - but you didn't address the fact that you wasted more than two hours of my day, nor that you didn't bother to call to let me know! "Sorry" is only as good as the breath it's uttered with. Your "attempts" to "reschedule" weren't the issue - the wasting my time and not calling were! You sidestepped taking accountability for THAT completely. Yet another reason why I'll never book with you again - nor will my family or friends.)
